  • Filter functions based on function groups.

Summary

eXtendMobile allows you to classify functions into groups, making it easy to filter functions based on their group for quick access.

Configuration Details

NetSuite Configuration

The installation of eXtendMobile adds a custom record type called eXtendMobile Function Groups in NetSuite. To create new function groups and associate them with your functions, first add new records of the eXtendMobile Function Groups type by creating the associated records.

Tip: You can use eXtendMobile to create a function that allows you to create new eXtendMobile Function Groups records from within the app itself. This bypasses the need to log in to the NetSuite user interface when defining new eXtendMobile Function Groups records.

eXtendMobile App Configuration

  1. Assign a Function Group to a function.
When creating or updating function, one of the available settings on the function is for defining a Function Group. Tapping the option will list all available function groups. Select a function group to associate the function with the function group.

Note: If no function group is selected, the function will be considered as uncategorized.
  2. Filtering functions based on Function Groups.
    1. In the eXtendMobile app settings, there is an option for defining a Function Group filter.

    2. After selecting the function group, navigate back to the eXtendMobile home screen. You will then find that only the functions within the group you selected are visible.
    3. There are also two dynamic options which are always available regardless of eXtendMobile Function Groups record configuration. Uncategorized and All Groups.

      1. When Uncategorized is selected, all functions which do not have a group assigned will be shown.
      2. When All Groups is selected, all functions will be shown, regardless of whether they have a function group assigned or not. This is the default filter group that is applied.
Note:
  1. This assigning function groups to functions and filtering based on group is only available when using an eXtendMobile Administrator role. It is not available for standard eXtendMobile user roles. See Creating eXtendMobile App Roles for more details on eXtendMobile roles.
  2. If your function contains a linked function that has been assigned to a different function group, it will not work when a function group filter is applied. In this scenario, you need to select All Groups in the function group filtering so that your target function will be available.

However, this issue does not apply to eXtendMobile user roles, as they do not have access to function group filtering.
