Version: eXtendFiles all versions
Overview
eXtendTech pushes each eXtendFiles update to your Production account on the date in a release notice email.
However, you may update your Sandbox account independently before the Production update. This lets you test the new version with your own processes before it reaches Production.
How you update depends on whether eXtendFiles is currently configured and connected in your Sandbox account:
- Configured & Connected: Update the bundle (Step 3).
- Not connected: Reconfigure eXtendFiles first, then update the bundle.
Prerequisites
- Administrator role in the Sandbox account
- eXtendFiles installed in the Sandbox account
- Sandbox on the version directly before the new release (see Supported update paths)
Supported update paths
eXtendFiles includes built-in upgrade logic for updates from one major version to the next. Supported update paths include:
- eXtendFiles 1.7 → eXtendFiles 1.8
- eXtendFiles 1.8 → eXtendFiles 1.9
Updates that skip a major version aren't supported, such as:
- eXtendFiles 1.6 → eXtendFiles 1.9
- eXtendFiles 1.7 → eXtendFiles 1.9
These updates may require additional configuration. If your Sandbox is more than one major version behind the new release, contact eXtendTech Support before you update.
Steps
Step 1: Check your current Sandbox version
- Log in to your Sandbox account with the Administrator role.
- Go to Customization → SuiteBundler → Search & Install Bundles → List.
- Find eXtendFiles and note the version in the Version column.
- Confirm the update is a supported path. If it isn't, contact eXtendTech Support before you continue.
Step 2: Confirm eXtendFiles is connected in Sandbox
- Open a record where you use eXtendFiles.
- Upload a test file.
- Check the result:
- The upload completes without an error: eXtendFiles is connected. Go to Step 3.
- The upload generates an error: eXtendFiles is likely not connected. Complete Reconfiguring eXtendApps after a Sandbox refresh or Release Preview provisioning, then return to Step 3.
- The upload completes without an error: eXtendFiles is connected. Go to Step 3.
Note: If your Sandbox was refreshed and you haven't reconfigured eXtendFiles since, it isn't connected.
Step 3: Update the eXtendFiles bundle
- Go to Customization → SuiteBundler → Search & Install Bundles → List.
- Find eXtendFiles in the list.
- In the Action column, select Update.
- Review the Preview Bundle Update page, then click Update Bundle.
- Wait for the update to finish.
- Confirm the Version column shows the new version.
Note: Some changes you made to eXtendFiles fields, forms, or preferences may reset after a bundle update. See Understanding Why Fields and Preferences May Reset During NetSuite Bundle and SuiteApp Updates.
