Overview

The eXtendFiles Signature Uploader enables mobile users to capture touchscreen digital signatures (using a finger or stylus) and attach them directly to NetSuite records as eXtendFiles attachments.

You can add the signature uploader to Create, Update, or View functions across standard and custom NetSuite record types (such as Sales Orders, Item Fulfillments, Purchase Orders, and Work Orders).

Prerequisites

Before configuring the Signature Uploader:

1. Ensure eXtendFiles is installed and configured with your cloud storage provider.
   
2. Enable the eXtendFiles Inline Upload feature for the target NetSuite record types. (See Configure the eXtendFiles Inline Upload Feature).
   
3. Ensure the eXtendMobile integration user's role has permission to view/update the target record type and the eXtendFiles custom record (customrecord_extend_files_aut).
   

Configuration (Administrator)

Use these steps to add the eXtendFiles Signature Uploader to an eXtendMobile function.

1. Log into eXtendMobile Web or the eXtendMobile App with an eXtendMobile Admin role.
   
2. Edit the target Create, Update, or View function.
   
3. User the Configure Form button to open the form builder.
   
4. Add the eXtendFiles Signature Uploader to the form using the add field button.
   

   
   
   • eXtendMobile automatically adds the uploader button and two coordinated metadata fields.
     
   • eXtendFiles - Signature URL: Holds the cloud storage URL.
     
   • eXtendFiles - Signature File Name: Holds the signature file name.
     
5. (Optional) Tap the field in the form builder to customize the field label (e.g., Customer Signature, Driver Sign-Off, or Quality Inspector Approval).
   
6. Save your changes.
   

Usage (User)

Once configured, field personnel can capture signatures directly from the eXtendMobile mobile app (iOS and Android).

1. In the eXtendMobile app, open a function that includes the eXtendFiles Signature Uploader.
   
2. Tap the eXtendFiles signature button.
   
   
   
3. Optional: enter a signature file name (defaults to signature_YYYY_MM_DD.png).
   
   
   
4. Draw the signature in the signature area using your finger or a stylus.
   
   
   
5. Optional: tap Clear if you need to retry the signature.
   
6. Tap Upload.
   
1. In Create / Update Functions: The signature is uploaded to cloud storage and populates the form fields. The file is attached to NetSuite when you submit/save the form.
   
2. In View Functions: The signature is uploaded and immediately attached to the existing NetSuite record in real time.
