Use Case
- Enable hardware scanning for "Select" type input fields for devices that have a built-in hardware scanner.
Overview
Hardware scanning involves scanning field values using a device with a built-in hardware scanner. Setting values for text and number fields using a scanner is simple and straightforward. However, fields of the "select" type require you to enable hardware scanning on the applicable field to make it function as a text input. This article will guide you on how to enable hardware scan input on "select" fields and explore the other features it provides.
Configuration
1. In the "select" field's field configuration, enable the Hardware Scan preference. See Configuring Field Details for "Select" and "Multi-Select" Fields in eXtendMobile for information on accessing "select" field configuration and other available options.
2. Upon executing the function, the "select" field will appear as an input field so that it can receive a scanned value. If you wish to manually select values, you can still do so by tapping on the arrow, which will display a list of available options.
Note: If there are any sourced or dependent fields of the select field, the other dependent functions will execute after the scan and when the value is set.
