Audience: Administrator

The eXtendOrders Configurator UI allows you to select Imprint Methods and Imprint Locations using several approaches. Based on the availability of pre-defined curated data lists, eXtendOrders adapts to your requirements using flexible configuration approaches.

Case 1: You have a curated list of Imprint Methods, but the Imprint Location should be Free-Form Text.

In this approach you would define your IMC Records as a 1:1 relationship with your Imprint Methods with the same name as your Imprint Methods. On the configurator UI, the user would select the IMC record (with the same value as the Imprint Method name), and they would be able to enter any desired value for the Imprint Location. The Imprint Method would be shown as disabled inn the configurator UI as it is 1:1 relationship with the IMC record.

This approach is recommended for Distributors who want to get started quickly, and who do not have a well-defined list of Imprint Locations.

There are two approaches which can be taken to configure Case 1:

Option A:
  • DISPLAY IMPRINT LOCATION OPTION BASED ON IMPRINT METHOD must be unchecked.
  • CONFIGURE DECO USING IMPRINT CONFIG must be checked.
  • DISPLAY IMPRINT LOCATION AS TEXT must be checked.
Option B:
  • DISPLAY IMPRINT LOCATION OPTION BASED ON IMPRINT METHOD must be checked.
  • CONFIGURE DECO USING IMPRINT CONFIG must be checked.
  • DISPLAY IMPRINT LOCATION AS TEXT must be checked.

Case 2: You want users to select any Imprint Method and Imprint Location, but they can only select the Imprint Location and Imprint Method from a curated list of Imprint Methods and Imprint Locations.

This approach lets user choose from the curated list of Imprint Methods and Imprint Locations, but the combination of Imprint Method and Imprint Location are not validated. This approach requires creating a single IMC record, and creating all available values of the Imprint Methods and Imprint Locations in their respective list and records.

This approach is recommended for Distributors who want to get started quickly, and have a well-defined list of Imprint Locations, but who do not want users to be restricted from choosing the Imprint Method and Imprint Location combinations.

There are two approaches that can be taken to configure this:

Option A:
  • DISPLAY IMPRINT LOCATION OPTION BASED ON IMPRINT METHOD must be checked.
  • CONFIGURE DECO USING IMPRINT CONFIG must be checked.
  • DISPLAY IMPRINT LOCATION AS TEXT must be unchecked.
Option B:
  • DISPLAY IMPRINT LOCATION OPTION BASED ON IMPRINT METHOD must be unchecked.
  • CONFIGURE DECO USING IMPRINT CONFIG must be checked.
  • DISPLAY IMPRINT LOCATION AS TEXT must be unchecked.

Case 3. You have well-defined list of Imprint Methods and Imprint Locations, and you also have pre-defined data for which Imprint Methods can be applied to which Imprint Locations. In this case, the Imprint Method unlocks the possible Imprint Location options.

This approach is recommended for matured Supplier and Distributor organizations who have a well-defined lists of Imprint Methods and Imprint Locations, as well which Imprint Methods apply to which Imprint Locations. This ensures that the user can select any valid combination of Imprint Methods and Imprint Locations on the configurator UI.

There are two approaches that can be taken to configure this:

Option A:
  • DISPLAY IMPRINT LOCATION OPTION BASED ON IMPRINT METHOD must be unchecked.
  • CONFIGURE DECO USING IMPRINT CONFIG must be unchecked.
  • DISPLAY IMPRINT LOCATION AS TEXT must be unchecked.
Option B:
  • DISPLAY IMPRINT LOCATION OPTION BASED ON IMPRINT METHOD must be unchecked.
  • CONFIGURE DECO USING IMPRINT CONFIG must be unchecked.
  • DISPLAY IMPRINT LOCATION AS TEXT must be checked.

Case 4: You have a well-defined list of Imprint Locations and Imprint Methods, and you have pre-defined data of which Imprint Locations can be applied to which Imprint Methods. In this case, the Imprint Locations unlocks the possible Imprint Methods.

This approach is recommended for matured Supplier and Distributor organizations who have a well-defined list of Imprint Methods and Imprint Locations, as well as which Imprint Methods apply to which Imprint Locations. This ensures that the user can select any valid combination of Imprint Locations and Imprint Methods on the configurator UI.

This is very similar to Case 3 above, with the only difference being that in this case the user selects the Imprint Location first, and then the possible values of Imprint Methods are unlocked. Depending on your data entry needs, you can choose between Case 3 and Case 4.

There are two approaches that can be taken to configure this:

Option A:
  • DISPLAY IMPRINT LOCATION OPTION BASED ON IMPRINT METHOD must be checked.
  • CONFIGURE DECO USING IMPRINT CONFIG must be unchecked.
  • DISPLAY IMPRINT LOCATION AS TEXT must be unchecked.
Option B:
  • DISPLAY IMPRINT LOCATION OPTION BASED ON IMPRINT METHOD must be checked.
  • CONFIGURE DECO USING IMPRINT CONFIG must be unchecked.
  • DISPLAY IMPRINT LOCATION AS TEXT must be checked.
