Problem
When there is no network or Wi-Fi connection I am not able to create, list or edit records.
Solution
- If you need to use functions without an internet connection, contact your eXtendMobile Administrator to make the necessary functions available while offline.
- If you are an eXtendMobile Administrator, follow Offline Function Caching in the eXtendMobile App to enable function caching.
What are cached functions?
Cached functions are functions whose details get saved when an active internet connection is present. When there's no internet connection, you can still use these functions to do your work.
How can I identify a cached function?
A cached function will have a cache icon on the function tile:
Before using a cached function, ensure that the cache records are created for the function. To view the cached records, go to your Function Cache Settings at Settings → Function Cache Settings:
If the records are not cached, they will be greyed out and will be updated based on the schedule set by your eXtendMobile Administrator. Additionally, the function cache starts to update after being logged in for at least 15 minutes. You can also tap on the record tiles and tap on Update Now to update the cache sooner:
How can I use a cached function?
Cached functions operate like other functions
when an internet connection is available.
However, without an internet connection, field
sourcing and filtering will not function.
Executing the cache function will still
proceed as usual, and you can select values
and save the record. But upon saving, you will
receive the following message:
In the recent messages, you can view the queued request. When the internet connection is restored, the queued requests get processed automatically.
