Introduction
This article provides a guide on how to use the Presentation Modal with external sourcing from ASI's ESP web. This feature allows you to search and use items directly from ASI without first constituting them in NetSuite.
Using the Presentation Modal
This feature must be configured by your NetSuite Administrator prior to use: How to Source ASI Items in eXtendPresentation.
- Begin by creating an Opportunity or Estimate (Quote) record.
- Click the Specify Item Quantity/Pricing Breaks button to open the presentation modal.
- Within the modal, under the "Item" header column, a dropdown menu provides two options: "NetSuite" and "External". The option you select determines the source of the items.
- Select "External" and specify a keyword in the item dropdown to search for items from ASI. For instance, input "Shirts" to display matching results from ASI. Please note that fetching results from ASI may take some time as they are generated live from ASI's ESP. The speed of the search also depends on the number of pages to be fetched at once from ASI, as determined by your NetSuite Administrator in the eXtendPresentation settings.
- Once the results are fetched, select an item. The item name, description, image, and its quantity pricing will then be set in the modal.
Important Notes
When using external sourcing:
- Line generation may not function correctly as the items added in the presentation modal do not physically exist in your NetSuite account. For further details on line generation from the presentation modal, please see How to Create Line Items from Presentation Modal Data.
- Image selection via eXtendFiles is not available, and you cannot enter a custom image URL.
- The sourcing of the name, description, image, and pricing fields are not customizable.
- The item's image will be displayed in the image field and rendered in the modal.
- If the quantity pricing table is not populated when selecting an item, it could mean that ASI has not provided pricing for the selected item. You can verify this by searching for the item from the ASI item search screen.
