Overview

Use the Delete files from storage setting to control whether eXtendFiles deletes the related file from your cloud storage when you delete an eXtendFiles record in NetSuite.

Prerequisites

  • You have Administrator access to NetSuite.
  • You have your backend storage configured.

Configuration

To delete a file from backend storage when an eXtendFiles record is deleted, turn on Delete files from storage.

  1. Go to eXtendTech → eXtendFiles → eXtendFiles Configuration.
  2. In the left navigation, select Storage settings → General.

  3. Enable or disable Delete files from storage.

How deletion works

If multiple eXtendFiles records reference the same file, eXtendFiles does not delete the file from backend storage until all records that reference the file have been deleted.

Provider-specific limitations

  • Amazon S3
    • Multi-factor authentication (MFA) delete protection is not supported.
    • If there are more than 1,000 file versions, the file won't be deleted.
  • Microsoft Azure
    • If there are more than 15 file versions, the file won't be deleted.
  • Oracle Object Storage
    • If there are more than 15 file versions, the file won't be deleted.

Q: What if I changed the bucket or container after the file was uploaded?
A: If the currently configured bucket or container differs from the one originally used for the upload, the file will not be deleted from backend storage.
