What You'll Learn

This guide covers four different ways to upload files to specific folders in eXtendFiles:

  • Standalone upload — Upload files directly through the eXtendFiles sublist
  • Record level upload — Quick uploads within a record
  • Line level upload — Upload files to specific transaction lines
  • Public upload — Share upload links with external users

Before You Start

  • Storage configuration:
  • Folder setup:
    • Required: eXtendFiles - Folder Information records for your upload destinations (Configure here)
    • For inline and public uploads: FOLDER INFORMATION RECORD FIELD ID must be specified

Upload Methods

Method 1: Standalone Upload

Best for detailed file management with full control over file properties.

  1. Go to your NetSuite record

  2. Open the eXtendFiles subtab

  3. Click New eXtendFiles


  4. In the new record:

    • Navigate to record references subtab
    • Select your destination folder in EXTENDFILES - FOLDER INFORMATION
    • Important: Choose the folder before uploading


  5. Upload your file


  6. Save the record

Method 2: Record Level Upload

Best for quick uploads within records.

  1. Edit your NetSuite record

  2. In the eXtendFiles subtab, select your destination folder in FILES FOLDER INFORMATION


  3. Save the record

  4. Upload your files using record level upload

  5. Files will automatically go to your selected folder

Method 3: Line Level Upload

Best for line-specific attachments.

  1. Open your transaction record

  2. Select your destination in the Files Folder Information field


  3. Save the record

  4. Upload files in the eXtendFiles uploader section on line items

  5. Files will be stored in your selected folder

Method 4: Public Upload

Best for collecting files from external users.

  1. Edit your NetSuite record

  2. In the eXtendFiles subtab, select your destination folder in FILES FOLDER INFORMATION


  3. Generate a public upload link using the FILES GENERATE PUBLIC FILE UPLOAD LINK checkbox

  4. Save the record

  5. Share the link from the FILES PUBLIC FILE UPLOAD URL field

    Note: Field names may vary based on your configuration

  6. External users can upload files through the public page

  7. Files will automatically go to your selected folder
