Problem

When creating items in eXtendASI, you might encounter an error related to the inability to create a color or abbreviation due to the 15-character abbreviation limit in NetSuite. This article provides steps to address this issue manually within the ASI Product Color List in NetSuite.

To resolve the error, you need to manually add the color within the ASI Product Color List in NetSuite and then you will be able to create items using that color in the future without error.

Solution

For Small Color List

  1. Go to CustomizationLists, Records, & Fields and open the "ASI Product Color" list.
  2. At the bottom of the values list, input the color listed in the error message in the "VALUE" field (Example: Caribbean Heather (CRH)). If you do not see a color list and see a "Manage Values" button instead, refer to the instructions for large color list.
  3. In the "ABBREVIATION" field, enter the abbreviation you wish to use for this item (maximum 15 characters).
Here's a video demo of the process. Note: this video has no sound.

For Large Color List

  1. Go to CustomizationLists, Records, & Fields and open the "ASI Product Color" list.
  2. If you have a large list of colors, you'll see a "Manage Values" button instead of the color list.
  3. Click "Manage Values" and then "New ASI Product Color". Enter your desired color in the "NAME" field (Example: Caribbean Heather (CRH)).
  4. In the "ABBREVIATION" field, enter the abbreviation you wish to use for this item (maximum 15 characters).

  5. Click Save and repeat the process for as many colors as you need to add.
Once these steps are completed, you should be able to create items using the added colors in eXtendASI without encountering any errors.
